Sainte Genevieve artist, Becky Millinger, has the unique opportunity to volunteer at the National Tiger Sanctuary in Bloomsdale, Missouri. The sanctuary is home to five adult, sibling bengal/siberian tigers who were rescued as cubs and who now serve as ambassadors to educate the public about the plight of tigers in the wild. Dee, Max, Vincent, Paul and TJ (Tiger Jack) are the subjects of Millinger's paintings and drawings and a portion of the proceeds of her work are donated to the sanctuary.
Millinger is a self taught artist who, in 2000, attended a workshop taught by renowned Belgium artist, Carl Brenders, in Bozeman, Montana. Brenders is best known for his realistic painting style of animals. Millinger uses some of Brender's technique of watercolor with gouache, a mixed medium, to create a style that is her own.
